The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. (CCF) is grateful to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and firefighter Lt. Dreama Jester, who launched “Fired Up for Childhood Cancer Awareness” three years ago and has hosted an incredible event raising awareness for pediatric cancer and raising funds for CCF ever since. On October 15th, Lt. Jester presented a $20,000 check to CCF’s Executive Director, Tasha Museles. The proceeds were nearly double the amount from the previous year’s event!

The 3rd Annual Fired Up for Childhood Cancer Awareness Super Hero Family Fun Day took place on September 15th at Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie, MD. Nearly a thousand families enjoyed food, games, activities, raffles and a silent auction throughout the day. Many area first responders offered demonstrations of equipment, vehicles, and specialized dog units. Dozens of businesses donated their time and services to staff and support the event.

The day was conceived of and coordinated by Lt. Dreama Jester, supported by the planning committee including Lt. Yuliya Brown and other members of the Local 1583. Lt. Jester’s personal connection to pediatric cancer is through family friend, Darren Leonard, who has been living with a brain tumor his entire life. More about Darren’s journey can be found here.

CCF is grateful to the vendors and sponsors who made the day possible. The full list is below. All photographs of the event are courtesy of Mike Hugg Media.
