The Children’s Inn Annual Shirley’s Kids Weekend – September 7-8, 2019
CCF was proud to support the 6th annual Shirley’s Kids Weekend – a program funded to honor CCF’s founder, Shirley Howard. Five families from The Children’s Inn were given the exciting opportunity to visit Annapolis. The weekend provided an action-packed trip for Inn families–helping them forget about the everyday burden of their children’s illnesses. The entire weekend is funded through CCF.
CCF Board Secretary and Giant Food’s Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Terry McGowan, along with Board member Steve Coomes, met the families at Giant Food (Store #132, 10400 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda) to distribute Giant Food bags of snacks begin their weekend. CCF extends thanks to Customer Service Manager David Axelrod and Store Manager Ronal Simon for their help and contributing delicious snacks to the group. CCF Executive Director Tasha Museles also met the group before they headed out to Annapolis.
The weather cooperated for the families and the children received their much needed break from their treatments. The first day was full of activities, including a trip to Six Flags, a trolley tour and delicious meals around the waterfront.
CCF is proud of this enduring partnership with The Children’s Inn and grateful to provide a weekend of enjoyment for families who are facing some unimaginable challenges.
A huge thank you to Giant Food and Terry McGowan for supporting this program.
