The Bowie Baysox (Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) hosted Heroes Day on Sunday, July 25. A portion of the ticket sales from the game benefited The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc.
All Law Enforcement, Firefighters and EMS personnel attended for free and Heroes Day featured a day of giving back as the team partnered with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department to feature a charity softball game following the Baysox game against the Hartford Goats. The softball game included the Anne Arundel County Fire Department against the Mid-Atlantic Fire Department in a competitive on-field battle for softball supremacy (Anne Arundel won!) CCF President, Tasha Museles, threw out the first pitch and joined both of the softball teams before their game.
Co-managers of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department recreational softball team Lt. Brad Schriefer and Lt. Phillip Hunt, again elected to support The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. Baysox players and team members wore specially designed jerseys for the game that were auctioned with a portion of the proceeds also benefiting CCF.
Funds raised from this event make a difference in our efforts to find better treatments and cures for pediatric cancer. CCF is grateful for the support of this incredibly generous group of heroes and extends our gratitude to all involved in making it such a successful day, as well as the financial support.
