The 7th Annual Force 3 Crushin’ Cancer Crab Feast, held June 27th at The Jetty Dock Bar in Grasonville, MD was attended by nearly 500 guests, who enjoyed an evening of crabs, drinks, silent auctions, music and fun. Force 3, and its CEO and CCF Board Member Mike Greaney, presented $50,000 to support CCF and the research of Jeffrey Toretsky, M.D. of Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Dr. Toretsky is the CCF Force 3 Fellow.

Dr. Toretsky, a pediatric oncologist specializing in Ewing Sarcoma, who also serves as Chair of the CCF Scientific Advisory Board, credits companies like Force 3 with advancing cutting edge research. Dr. Toretsky cites CCF’s early funding of his ideas as a critical component in establishing research that led to the first drug to specifically target Ewing sarcoma, currently in clinical trials. “My approach going forward,” Dr. Toretsky states, “is to continue to find novel cutting-edge science that can be used to develop the next generation of drugs for childhood cancer.”

CCF staff was joined by Board members Matt Boyd, Paul Schwab, William Yull, Lindley Bucci and Mike Greaney. The evening proved more meaningful through the many childhood cancer survivors and their families — Logan Johnson, Cade Wineke, Payton Oakley, Emma Miller, Darren Leonard, and the Bartels family.

CCF extends our deepest appreciation to all the event sponsors, to Force 3 and to the selfless efforts of all researchers working to find a cure for pediatric cancer. The journey continues to find a cure!
