Giant Food Presented a check for $660,000 to CCF during the 2021 CCF Gala, and then increased their generous commitment by $40,000, increasing their annual donation to $700,000.

August 14th (Columbia,  MD)  – Giant Food has launched its 17th annual Pediatric Cancer Campaign fundraising program, which aims to raise $2M.  This campaign spans Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (September) and will conclude on October 8, 2021. Since the program’s inception in 2005, Giant Food has raised over $25.7 million for pediatric cancer research. Last year, shoppers’ generosity resulted in raising a record $2.2M in just five weeks.

During the campaign, Giant customers can participate by purchasing a $5 coupon book at their local store. Aside from the book’s $30 value of coupons, the book highlights amazing cancer fighters in the community. CCF was grateful that Madelyn Smith, with her family, agreed to act as the 2021 CCF Giant Food Ambassador.

New for this year, in addition to the coupon book, shoppers will be able to make a $1, $3, or $5 donation when shopping online for pickup or delivery orders. Like last year, shoppers may also choose to round up their checkout total. Individual Giant stores looking to increase donations are also holding raffles and hosting other activities.

100% of sales for the $5 coupon book goes to CCF and Hopkins.

100% of the proceeds raised from the Giant Food Pediatric Cancer Campaign support Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. (CCF). Some of these funds directly support CCF’s Giant Food NextGen Research Awardees.

CCF is grateful to Board member Terry McGowan, Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance at Giant Food, Felis Andrade, Director of External Communications Community Relations, Ira Kress, President, Giant Food Eastern Division and the entire Giant Food Team for their loyal and generous support. For 2021, CCF will be presenting Giant Food and Ira Kress with the Gift of Life Award during the 37th Annual Gala on November 6, 2021.
