Weis Markets present a check for $320,000 to CCF President Tasha Museles on February, 11, 2022.
Following the December fundraising effort, generated through in-store donations from all Weis Markets locations, and a corporate contribution, Weis Markets Chief Operating Officer Kurt Schertle announced the $320,000 donation to CCF President Tasha Museles, along with Board members, Lindley Bucci (Vice Chair), Jerry Chadwick (Chair) and Karen Fernandez.
“Pediatric cancer diagnoses can be devastating, and we know that they affect our customers and associates,” said Weis Markets Chief Operating Officer Kurt Schertle. “CCF does great work ensuring that vital pediatric cancer research is funded. Weis Markets believes in this approach, which is why we are proud to support CCF’s efforts.”

COLUMBIA, MD (December, 17, 2021) – The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. (CCF) is grateful to the generosity of Weis Markets, who continue to support their local communities. Weis Markets knows the power of giving back. Throughout the month of December, Weis has launched a campaign to support groundbreaking pediatric cancer research funded through CCF.
Weis’ generous support enables CCF to invest in critical pediatric cancer research, enhancing facilities, and fund vital programs to help find cures and ensure there are more and improved treatments for pediatric cancer patients. Annually in the US, nearly 16,000 children are diagnosed with pediatric cancer- and just 4% of the federal cancer research budget is allocated for pediatric cancer research.
Through the end of the month, customers can help by donating $1, $3, $5, $10 at the register or rounding their order to the next whole dollar amount. Local news channel WMAR interviewed CCF President Tasha Museles and Weis Markets Community Relations Specialist Jaime Hynoski about this incredible fundraising opportunity.
Donations will quickly and directly be used to fund research at local hospitals like Johns Hopkins, Sinai, University of Maryland, Children’s National, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and the National Cancer Institute, along with important partner programs with The Children’s Inn, Horizon Day Camp, the Claire Marie Foundation and many more. Advances in research will help children in Maryland, and ultimately throughout the world.
