The Chesapeake Baysox (Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and formerly known as the Bowie Baysox) hosted Heroes Day on Sunday, July 13. A portion of ticket sales from the game benefited The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. (CCF).
A great afternoon was had by all as Will Mumford and JJ Nixon were honored and each threw out pitches to get things started. Following the Baysox game, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department faced the Maryland State Police for the annual “Guns and Hoses” charity softball game. The State Police pulled out the win, but the true winner is CCF, who is grateful for the generosity of all who participated.
CCF is grateful to the Chesapeake Baysox and Capt. Brad Schriefer of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Captain Schriefer’s leadership has ensured a strong partnership with the Baysox community for many years. We extend a special thank you to the Mumford and Rich/Nixon families for joining CCF on this day!
Funds raised from this event make a difference in our efforts to find better treatments and cures for pediatric cancer. CCF is grateful for the support of this incredibly generous group of heroes and extends our gratitude to all involved in making it such a successful day.
