4th annual Shirley’s Kids Weekend helps kids and families take time off

September 19, 2017 By Lauren Lasher

4th Annual Shirley’s Kids Weekend – September 9-10, 2017

CCF is a proud supporter of the 4th annual Shirley’s Kids Weekend- a program funded to honor CCF’s founder, Shirley Howard. Six families from The Children’s Inn were given the exciting opportunity to go on a weekend trip to Dulles Golf Park and Old Town Alexandria. The Weekend provided an action-packed trip for Inn families–helping them forget about the everyday burden of their children’s illnesses.

CCF Board member and Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Terry McGowan, met the families at Giant Food (Store #132, 10400 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda) to distribute Giant Food bags of snacks begin their weekend of excitement. CCF Board President Jerry Chadwick and CCF Executive Director Tasha Museles both stopped by throughout the weekend to get to know the families and join in the fun.

The weather was glorious. The smiles were big. The first day was full of activities, including mini golf, corn hole, a BBQ lunch, caricature drawing and much more.

CCF is proud of this enduring partnership with The Children’s Inn and grateful to provide a weekend of enjoyment for families who are facing some unimaginable challenges.

A huge thank you to Giant Food and Terry McGowan for supporting this program.
