Saval Foodservice raised nearly $28,000 to support the efforts of The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. (CCF) at its 14th Annual Golf Tournament on June 13th, 2017.
With the generous support of many local sponsors, Saval Foodservice has loyally supported CCF, contributing over $200,000 in 14 years to help treat and cure pediatric cancer.
Joining the golfers in the afternoon are Sarah, Matt and their daughter, Madelyn Smith, who battled an extrarenal rhabdoid tumor and is now cancer free. The Smith family met Paul Saval, President of Saval Foodservice, while in Ocean City late last summer and were delighted to join Paul and the Saval family at this year’s tournament.
Madelyn was diagnosed and started treatment in 2016 initially for Ewing Sarcoma. Mid-treatment it was determined that Madelyn in fact had an extrarenal rhabdoid tumor and her treatment plan was changed. Pediatric oncology research played, and will continue to play a vital role in ensuring pediatric oncologists are aware of all cancers and have the ability to find cures for our youngest patients. Today, Madelyn is five and will begin kindergarten in the Fall. She looks forward to being a big sister again in late August.
