2026 Gala Honorees
Fighter Award – Poole and Kent
For nearly 80 years, The Poole and Kent Corporation has been a trusted leader in mechanical design and construction. Founded in 1947 by UMD alumni E. Robert Kent and Robert R. Poole, the company is recognized nationwide as one of the industry’s premier mechanical contractors, delivering complex projects across virtually every market sector. With particular expertise in healthcare, life sciences, and mission critical facilities, Poole and Kent has earned a reputation for technical excellence, innovative solutions, and successful project delivery throughout the eastern United States.
Driven by a deep commitment to community, Poole and Kent fosters a culture where supporting others—both within the organization and throughout the region—is central to who they are. When one of their own families—the Rimel family and their daughter, Kate Rimel —was impacted by pediatric cancer, they gained a profound understanding of the importance of advancing children’s cancer research and of improving the lives of children fighting cancer. Poole and Kent is recognized with the Fighter Award because of this shared spirit of care, service, and community impact.
Stewardship Award – John and Regina B. Gates
The CCF Stewardship Award honors partnership and outstanding community philanthropy. In recognition of decades of generous support, CCF is honored to present the 2026 Stewardship Award to John and Regina Gates. The Gates’ have loyally supported CCF through their family foundation. John and Regina represent the best of our local community.
Hero Award – Tasha Manigo-Bizzell
CCF is thrilled to present the 2026 Hero Award to Tasha Manigo-Bizzell, an advocate, cancer survivor and overall champion of advancing cancer research. In 1974, at 18 months old, Tasha was diagnosed with Wilms tumor, a rare form of kidney cancer. On September 4, 2024, she became a 50-year childhood cancer survivor. It also marked the beginning of her campaign to raise $50,000 on behalf of pediatric cancer research. All dollars raised have benefited The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. Along with her family, Tasha advocates effortlessly in her community for advances in pediatric cancer research, reminding us how important it is to give back. Read her story.
